In the first set of lessons we learned about timing and spacing. Timing and spacing are used to make the animations look smooth and also make sense. Like in the weights he would pick up the 20 pound weight faster than the 50 pound weight.
Pose to pose and straight ahead action are both ways to lay out the animations. Pose to pose is more organized because you know where your key poses are going to be at. While straight ahead
you just keep going until it is finished.
Follow through and overlapping is used in animation because it makes the animation make more sense. What we did in the lessons is we made the rope instead of coming to a complete stop when the block we made it continue to move. Also when it changed directions instead of it instantly
change it continued doing the previous action as well as adding new ones.
A secondary action is an action that goes along side of the main action. In the videos he talked about shacking the fist when walk towards someone. And what we did was we moved his eyelids and eyebrows to make him look with curiosity.
Squash and stretch in animation are tools that help provide insight on a objects structure but also will allow us to put an exaggerated effect on to an character. With the jello we should that it is a squish able object and not solid. We also went over if someone were to jump there body would squish and then stretch once the were in the air.
Exaggeration is used for giving a stronger emotion to the character or some extra detail. In this lessons we moved his eyes and eyebrows make him look worried and first and then later angry.
Arcs held add realism to an animation by allowing us to see how it moves. In this lesson we made his foot instead of going straight we made it arc like he his actually taking a step. This allows us to get a more realistic feel to the animation.
Ease in ease out allows us to make more realist movements by making a smooth transition by changing the speeds of the animation. With the tire instead of it being one speed all the way through it changed speeds.
Anticipation is the build up of the action and then showing the action. In the lessons we slowed down the wind up of his punch to help build the suspense of him throwing it.
Appeal is taking the emotions of the characters and giving them more life. An example he used was a happy person becoming sad or a villain showing happiness. Also there poses play a big part in the appeal of the character. in my screen shot making him leaning on and tapping the table shows that he is board.
Staging is all about using the best angle to show the emotion of the scene. Also switching between different angles will help show what is going on in the scene. What we did in the lessons is we focused on the him walking and hitting the rake to show added emotion.
Solid drawing is used to make sure every pose is clearly readable and smooth. Also it is used to make sure that the pose is not the same for both sides.
